Friday, April 17th

VFW Post 6689, 73 Pearl Street in Essex Junction is having a Wing Night from 5:30pm to 7pm.  The public is invited.

Holy Angels and St. Ann’s Parishes celebrate the nation’s 250th with a dinner  from 4pm to 7pm at Holy Angels Hall in Altona, New York.  All are welcome.

Saturday, April 18th

Vermont Senior Games for people 50 years of age and older continue through the summer and fall.  On April 18th, there will Power Lifting with www.LiftVT in Williston.  Learn more at www.Vermontseniorgames.org

St. Peter’s Parish, 85 South Maple Street in Vergennes is holding family-friendly bingo to benefit the church’s Historic Preservation work.  The doors open at 5pm and the games begin at 6pm.  All are welcome.

The 34th annual dinner/auction to benefit the men’s and women’s Rutland Dismas Houses from 4pm to 9pm.  It takes place at the Killington Grand Hotel with raffles and an auction.  For more information, go to www.DismasofVt.org

A craft fair to benefit The Veterans Place with over 20 vendors, a bake sale and a raffle, takes place at Mount Abraham Union High School, 220 Airport Drive in Bristol from 10am to 3pm.

A Veterans Benefits Event to help Veterans with eligibilities and health is being held at the American Legion Green Mountain Post 1, 100 Parah Drive, St. Albans from 10am to 2pm.

A Twisttowool Guild Annual Auction takes place at the  American Legion Post 27, Boardman Street (behind G-Stone Motors) in Middlebury from 10am to 3pm.  Tools for weaving, spinning, knitting, crocheting and other fiber arts as well as food and drink will be for sale.

Sunday, April 19th

Vermont Connector’s Spring, Sprout and Swap, a community baby-gear exchange collects gently used items like strollers and high chairs for young children for spring sprouts.  It takes place at the Elks Lodge, 925 North Avenue in Burlington from 9am to noon.

The Salisbury Fire Department is having a pancake breakfast from 7:30am to 10:30am at Salisbury Community School.  More details are available on Facebook.

The Ethan Allen Homestead Museum off of the Burlington Beltline presents “Martha Powell-One of the Earliest 18th Century Burlingtonians” with museum director Angie Grove at 2pm.  The talk is free and open to the public.

The Champlain Valley Quilt Guild of Vermont Quilt Show is being held at Holy Family Parish Hall, 30 Lincoln Street in Essex Junction from 9am to 5pm Friday and Saturday and from noon to 4pm on Sunday.

The Ladies’ Altar Rosary presents a Craft/Vendor event with a bake sale, Chinese auction, and 50/50 raffle at St. Joseph’s Church Hall at 11 Lovers Lane in West Chazy from 9am to 3pm.

An information meeting on Age Well services and programs for Vermont seniors is being held at Age Well, 39 Main Street in Essex Junction from 8:30 to 11:30am.  There will be a free breakfast and a Q&A period.

Springtime

Vermont Fish and Wildlife are asking motorists to slow down or take alternate routes to avoid driving roads with wetlands and ponds nearby, where salamanders and frogs cross during the breeding season.  Pay attention to the forecast for warm nights with rainfall.
